Aces’ A’ja Wilson Sends Firm Reminder After Unforgettable Night Against Sun originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Las Vegas Aces star center A’ja Wilson is a three-time WNBA Most Valuable Player, and she played exactly like one Sunday night. Against the bottom-dwelling Connecticut Sun, Wilson stuffed the stat sheets with a performance that will be talked about for days, at least.

The former South Carolina Gamecocks star torched the Sun for 32 points on 13-for-25 shooting from the field. She added 20 rebounds, five assists and two steals, and while she had six of her team’s 15 turnovers, Wilson finished with a game-high plus-17 to lead the Aces to a 94-86 victory at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas.

Wilson’s total points and rebounds in that contest made her just the first player in the history of the WNBA to come up with at least 30 points and 20 rebounds in the same game. There was simply nothing that the Sun did effectively to slow down Wilson, who has also recorded her second consecutive double-double. She had 29 points and 12 boards in last Friday’s 90-86 win at home over the Seattle Storm.

A’ja Wilson keeps it grounded amid individual and team success
Despite the tremendous work she put together against Connecticut, Wilson seemed to have plenty of energy following the game, as she sent a message to Aces fans while issuing a reminder about how the work is far from over for Las Vegas.
“We got the win, we got the dub, but the work still has to be done,” the 29-year-old A’ja Wilson said. “But it’s a good one to get one at the house in front of these amazing fans.”

Sunday’s victory was the fourth in a row for the Aces and seventh in their last 10 outings. During that span, A’ja Wilson has averaged 25.5 points on a 49.4 percent shooting from the floor, 13.3 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 0.8 blocks.
However, Las Vegas remains in a precarious spot, as the Aces are only sixth in the WNBA table — only 2.5 games inside of the top eight in the standings.
A tough challenge awaits the Aces this coming Wednesday, when the reigning WNBA champions, the New York Liberty, come to town.
