Following eight successive days of negotiations in New York City, the WNBA and the Women’s National Basketball Players Association have reached a deal on a landmark new collective bargaining agreement that will include substantial pay hikes for all players.

But for the league’s elite — like the Las Vegas Aces‘ four-time MVP A’ja Wilson — they will become the first players in WNBA history to take home million-dollar salaries.

That’s because, pending formalization and ratification by the Board of Governors, the WNBA’s new supermax salary will start at $1.4 million. And Wilson — who made just $200,000 in 2025 — could be the first beneficiary.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Callie Fin, the Aces plan to re-sign Wilson to the new $1.4 million supermax “as soon as possible.”

For years, Wilson had agreed to take a lower salary so the Aces could build a contender. Now that Vegas has won three of the past four WNBA championships — and since Wilson won Finals MVP in a four-game sweep of the Phoenix Mercury last year — the 29-year-old will become the league’s top-earning player in short order.
