AUBURN, Ala. — South Carolina women’s basketball freshman guard Agot Makeer was subbed out of the first quarter by the 6:18 mark and went back to the locker room.

She was making her second straight start for the No. 3 Gamecocks (20-2, 6-1 SEC), who are playing at Auburn on Jan. 29.

Makeer made a layup in transition with 8:58 left in the first quarter and was fouled, making her free throw. She played until the Tigers (13-8, 2-5) called a timeout, but sophomore guard Maddy McDaniel had been waiting at the scorers table to check in for her for at least a minute before.

Makeer didn’t return to the bench by the end of the first quarter but shortly after the second quarter started, she walked with what looked like some type of wrap or heating pad on her thigh or hip, sitting on the bench still in her uniform.
