On one hand, Michigan football fans don’t ever want to see their archrival, Ohio State, win a national championship. However, on the other hand, many of the maize and blue faithful find the Buckeyes’ 2024 national championship kind of funny.
Why? Well, because the worst Michigan team in a decade went into Columbus and beat the current national champions, 13-10, in a year where the Buckeyes were expected to break the three-game losing streak and trounce the Wolverines.
It was one of two regular-season losses for OSU, with the other being to No. 1 Oregon in Eugene. Ohio State eventually got revenge in the Rose Bowl by trouncing the Ducks. Thus, Michigan was the only team on the schedule it wasn’t able to beat — and it was in arguably the most beatable year for the Wolverines.
Former Michigan edge rusher and NFL star Aidan Hutchinson was asked how he felt about Ohio State’s national championship, and he answered in a way that only Aidan Hutchinson could.
Priceless.
Certainly, Ohio State fans have a right to celebrate their national championship. However, just as much, Michigan fans have bragging rights given that even the best OSU team in a decade couldn’t beat the worst Wolverines team in the same time frame.
That makes four in a row now.
