Alabama Women’s Basketball 2024-25 Opponent Preview: Green Bay Phoenix

For the third consecutive season, the Alabama Crimson Tide are back in the 2025 women’s NCAA Tournament, this time as a No. 5 seed, their highest since the 1998-99 season.

To begin the NCAA Tournament as well, Alabama will be in action this upcoming Saturday for a first round matchup against the No. 12 in Regional 2 – Birmingham, the Green Bay Phoenix.

A team that Alabama has never played head-to-head, Green Bay is coming off one of the top seasons in program history, and, as a 12-seed, could certainly give the Crimson Tide some problems in this first round matchup.

Statistically, Green Bay’s women’s team is one of the nation’s best in points allowed to opponents per game, ranking No. 17 nationally by allowing only 55.8, while also averaging 68.4 themselves. Green Bay also ranks Top 15 nationally in both assists per game and free throw percentage at 17.7 and 78.3%, respectively, while also ranking No. 39 in the nation with a combined 35.1% three-point percentage.
