Alabama women’s basketball drops in polls after Oklahoma loss

by

Alabama women’s basketball dropped in this week’s USA TODAY Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 following its second straight loss.

The Crimson Tide (20-6, 6-6 SEC) dropped to No. 24 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll, earning 66 points. Alabama was ranked No. 23 in last week’s poll and went 0-1 during the voting period.

The Crimson Tide also slid from No. 23 to No. 25 in the AP Top 25 Women’s College Basketball Poll after the 79-71 loss to No. 10 Oklahoma on Sunday, Feb. 15. Alabama surged in the third quarter with 27 points, but the Sooners pulled away again in the fourth, as the Crimson Tide went scoreless over the final three minutes.

Despite the slip in the rankings, Alabama’s schedule remains unforgiving. The Crimson Tide will host No. 3 South Carolina at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Coleman Coliseum, with the game airing on SEC Network.
