The 2026 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships continued with the Day 2 prelims session on Thursday, Feb. 18, from Minneapolis.
The events on the docket are the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke before 1-meter diving prelims.
Here is a look at what happened Thursday morning:
Big Ten Women’s 100 Butterfly
Indiana freshman Alex Shackell got a strong start to her first Big Ten meet with a top seed in the 100 butterfly. The 2024 Olympian got to the wall in 50.60 to hold off the field by a half second.
Michigan senior Brady Kendall took the second seed with a swim of 51.03. She and Shackell had entered the meet with the exact same seed time of 50.98.
Indiana’s Miranda Grana took the third spot in 51.38, followed by two more Wolverines with sophomore Leila Fack (51.52) and junior Lexi Greenhawt (51.73).
Nebraska junior Beatrix Tanko earned the sixth seed in 51.75, followed by UCLA freshman Jada Duncan (51.86) and Rutgers junior Anna Vlachou (52.16).

Big Ten Women’s 400 IM
Michigan junior Bella Sims cruised past the field in the 400 IM, getting to the wall in 4:03.82, nearly three seconds ahead of the competition.
The Olympian’s time was just two seconds off the meet record. The Wolverines could score a ton of points here as teammate Hannah Bellard took the third seed in 4:06.40.
UCLA senior Rosie Murphy put together a strong swim to take the second seed in 4:06.21.
Minnesota junior Katie McCarthy swam to the fourth seed in 4:06.49, followed by Ohio State sophomore Sienna Angove (4:07.60), USC senior Justina Kozan (4:07.92), Wisconsin sophomore Stella Chapman (4:08.20) and Nebraska senior Gena Jorgenson (4:08.33).

Big Ten Women’s 200 Freestyle
Indiana freshman Liberty Clark raced past the field to take the top seed in the 200 free in 1:42.08. Her time was a second and a half faster than the rest of the field.
Ohio State sophomore Rachel Bockrath took he second spot in 1:43.44, just ahead of Michigan junior Stephanie Balduccini (1:43.67), which sets up what could be an extremely close finish.
USC fifth year Nicole Maier is not out of the mix. Her time of 1:43.76 gave her the fourth seed, while Wisconsin sophomore Maggie Wanezek was at 1:43.89.
Another Indiana freshman, Grace Hoeper, took the sixth seed in 1:44.876, followed by USC senior Claire Tuggle (1:44.84) and Wisconsin senior Blair Stoneburg (1:44.91).

Ohio State sophomore Maria Ramos Najji took the top seed in the 100 breaststroke in 58.52, leading a top trio in the event within a half second of each other.
Michigan senior Letitia Sim was just behind with the second seed in 58.84, while Wisconsin freshman Brooke Corrigan was third in 59.01.
The fourth seed went to USC freshman Bella Brito (59.71), followed by Wisconsin senior Hazal Ozkan (59.79), USC junior Ashley McMillan (59.92), UCLA junior Sarah Bennetts (59.99) and Michigan freshman Sarah Pasquella (1:00.15).
