UFC 319 continues to take shape with the addition of a fun matchup in the lightweight division.
On Aug. 16 at the United Center in Chicago, Alexander Hernandez will face Chase Hooper. A middleweight title fight between Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev headlines the pay-per-view event. MMA Junkie confirmed the matchup with sources following a first report by X user @McGregorRousey2. Hooper also publicly announced the booking.
Hernandez (16-8 MMA, 8-7 UFC) will look to extend his current winning streak to three. After hitting a rough patch of 1-5 from 2022-24, Hernandez appears to be turning a corner after wins over Austin Hubbard and Kurt Holobaugh. If successful at UFC 319, it will be the first time the 32-year-old has won three straight under the UFC banner.
Hooper (16-3-1 MMA, 8-3 UFC) is running hot as a winner of five straight. Since his last loss to Steve Garcia in October 2022, Hooper, 25, has been fantastic, recording finishes of Jordan Leavitt, Viacheslav Borshchev and Clay Guida. In his first outing of 2025, Hooper won a unanimous decision over Jim Miller.
