Allen girls run away from Tishomingo

TISHOMINGO — The Allen High School girls basketball team will roll into the playoffs after a 60-30 win over Tishomingo on the road Tuesday night.

The Lady Mustangs, ranked No. 8 in Class A, improved to 19-4, while Class 3A Tishomingo dropped to 10-9.

Coach Dottie Slabaugh’s club will host the Clayton-Keota winner at 6 p.m. Saturday night in a Class A District title game.

Allen 60, Tish 30

Allen got off to a quick start and led 19-6 after the first quarter. The Lady Mustangs carried a 29-15 lead into halftime.

Allen buried three 3-point baskets during an 18-9 run in the third quarter and outscored the Lady Indians 13-6 in the fourth period.

Cherish Woodward and Kaylee Davis scored 13 points each to lead the AHS offense. Davis connected on three 3-point shots.

Addison Prentice was next with 12 points and made 5 of 7 free throws. She also hit a 3-pointer. Kryslyn Stephens just missed double figures with nine points and went a perfect 5 of 5 from the stripe.

Kayla Nickell added seven points, including one triple for the guests.

Skye Wade made three 3-point goals and scored 12 points to pace the Lady Indians. Erica Cabaniss scored five points and made a triple for the home team.

Stratford runs past Lady Tigers

STRATFORD — The Stratford Lady Bulldogs held Konawa without a first-quarter field goal and blitzed the Lady Tigers 64-18 in a Tuesday night home game.

Coach Mark Savage’s team improved to 18-3 and will carry a 12-game winning streak into the postseason. Konawa dropped to 5-13.

Stratford is scheduled to battle host Preston in the finals of a Class 2A District Tournament Saturday night at Preston High School.

Stratford 64, Konawa 18

The Lady Bulldogs sank three 3-point baskets during a 20-2 run to start the game. Stratford then outscored Konawa 17-5 in the second frame to build a 37-7 halftime advantage. The Lady Bulldogs owned a 27-11 second-half advantage.

Four different SHS players reached double figures for an offense that saw nine different players score. Trinity Bess led the way with 16 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Erin Henderson, Taegan Sanders and Callie Sandlin scored 10 points apiece for the Lady Bulldogs. Sandlin and Henderson both hit two triples and Sanders made one shot from long range. Stratford also got 3-point baskets from Caylea Schwagel and Ryleigh Ardery.

Laila Wroolie scored five points for Konawa and McKenzie Alford made a 3-point shot.

Asher girls push past Maud

ASHER — Sophomore Makaylee Herrell erupted for 26 points to help the Asher Lady Indians chop down the Maud squad 61-33 at home Tuesday night.

The Lady Indians closed out their regular season by winning five of their past six games to improve to 12-10, while Maud fell to 5-14.

Coach Lee Reimer’s club heads to Moss High School at 6 p.m. Friday to battle Bokoshe in a Class B District Tournament elimination game.

Asher 61, Maud 33

Herrell’s big game included three 3-point baskets and a 5 of 8 showing from the free-throw line.

Asher led 14-6 after the first quarter and steadily pulled away from there. Asher outscored Maud 15-11 in the second period to build a 29-17 halftime lead. The Lady Indians went on an 18-11 run in the third quarter and outscored the Lady Tigers 14-5 in the final frame.

MaKenah Templeton was next for Asher with 14 points. Sister Delanie Templeton followed with 13 points and made a trio of 3-point shots.

Aubri Kueneman and Janlee Impson scored nine points each to pace the Maud squad.

Lady Longhorns clip Konawa

STONEWALL — It took a bit, but the Stonewall Lady Longhorns finally broke open a tight game with a big fourth quarter and defeated Konawa 63-45 Monday night inside the Murphy-Roberts Gymnasium.

Coach Dillon Monday’s crew ended the regular season at 15-8. Stonewall will now head to Velma-Alma High School to face the Velma-Alma-Ringling winner Saturday night in a Class A District Tournament championship game.

Stonewall 63, Konawa 45

Konawa got the early upper hand and led 15-12 after the first quarter. Stonewall then used a 13-8 run to go on top 25-23 at the break. The Lady Longhorns edged Konawa 19-17 in a fast-paced third quarter to stretch their lead to 44-40.

A Kylie Alford 3-point bucket capped a 13-2 run to start the final frame and give Stonewall a 57-42 advantage. Stonewall outscored the Lady Tigers 19-5 over the final frame.

Lilly Wyche paced the Stonewall effort with 23 points. She hit a pair of 3-pointers, went 9 of 13 from the free-throw line and had seven rebounds and five assists.

Aiyana Valdez was next for the Lady Longhorns with 12 points and also made two 3-point shots. She also grabbed a team-best nine rebounds. Alyssa Mosier also reached double digits with 10 points and also had eight rebounds and four steals. Landree Dye added nine points for Stonewall and also notched three steals.

Chloe Tebe was the leading scorer for Konawa with 13 points, including her team’s only three 3-point baskets. Racee Ortiz and Kadie Jencik scored 10 points each for the visitors. Ortiz registered a double-double with 14 rebounds. McKenzie Alford was next with seven points and six boards for Konawa.
