Allen girls sting host Yellowjackets

Jan. 21—STROTHER — The Allen High School girls basketball team extended its winning streak to five with a 74-33 road win over Strother Saturday night.

Allen, ranked No. 8 in Class A, improved to 12-3, while Strother fell to 8-8. The Lady Mustangs host local rival Vanoss tonight. The Lady Wolves, ranked No. 11 in Class 2A, enter that contest at 12-2 on the season.

The Lady Mustangs bolted to a 19-8 lead after the first quarter before outscoring the Lady Yellowjackets 27-10 in the second period to build a 46-18 halftime lead.

Allen outscored Strother 21-6 in the third period.

Stoney Cully led the way for Allen with 18 points and also had eight rebounds and five assists.

Cherish Woodward and Addison Prentice contributed 13 points apiece to the balanced AHS effort. Woodward finished with a double-double after securing 11 rebounds. She also had five steals.

Kaylee Davis followed with 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. She also had five assists. Kryslyn Stephens also hit double figures with 10 points and made one 3-point basket.

Danica Morales led the Lady Yellowjackets with 18 points.
