Former NBA star Allen Iverson is mourning the loss of a close friend and “home girl.”

Iverson, one of the NBA’s best players of the 2000s, is mourning the loss of WNBA star Kara Braxton. The two-time WNBA champion and former WNBA All-Star died in a car accident over the weekend. She was just 43 years old.

“It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of 2x WNBA Champion Kara Braxton,” the league announced.

“A 10-season veteran, Kara played with the Detroit Shock, Tulsa Shock, Phoenix Mercury, and New York Liberty. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and former teammates at this time.”

Iverson, the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft out of Georgetown, was close with Braxton and her family.

The former Philadelphia 76ers star, who led his team to an NBA Finals appearance against the Los Angeles Lakers in 2001, took to social media to ask for prayers for her family this week.

“My condolences go out to the family & friends of Kara Braxton. You all are in my prayers. May you find strength in one another as well as peace & comfort in the love she gave and memories y’all made. I’ll never forget the smile & laughter of my homegirl. Rest Easy My Friend,” he wrote.
