Lemos (15-5-1 MMA, 9-5 UFC) has produced mixed results since earning a title shot against then-champion Zhang Weili in 2023. After a decision loss in her title bid, Lemos has gone 2-2, picking up wins over current champ Mackenzie Dern and Iasmin Lucindo, while dropping fights to Virna Jandiroba and Tatiana Suarez.

Robertson (16-8 MMA, 13-6 UFC) has not tasted defeat since a decision loss to Tabatha Ricci in 2023. Since then, “The Savage” has won four straight, getting her hand raised against Polyana Viana, Michelle Waterson-Gomez, Luana Pinheiro and Marina Rodriguez.

The co-main event in Las Vegas features a rebooked battle between top strawweights, Amanda Lemos and Gillian Robertson.
Despite not disagreeing with Robertson being the betting favorite, I’ll be sticking with my original prediction for this fight.
Although Robertson will have an undeniable edge in grappling scenarios, Lemos presents some traditional problems for the Canadian-born fighter in the form of powerful counters and superior athleticism.

If Robertson isn’t able to rinse, wash and repeat her favored process straight away in the first frame, then I believe that Lemos’ stinging counters and improved counter grappling could be enough to break down her opponent’s confidence (something we’ve seen from Robertson before when she’s unable to get her game going against stronger foes).
Add in the fact that Robertson has a .500 record in the smaller octagon of the Apex (as opposed to Lemos’ winning record of 5-2), and I can’t help but take a flier on Lemos at solid plus money.
As a fan of both Robertson and fresh title challengers alike, I wouldn’t mind being wrong on this one. That said, the official pick is for Lemos to score a surprising club-and-sub in Round 2.
