Milan Momcilovic recently withdrew from the NBA draft and announced his decision to play another year in college. Milan played three years in college for Iowa State. He is back for his senior now but he will not be continuing with the Cyclones. Ever since he was speculated to leave the draft process, two teams opened up as options – Kentucky and Louisville.
While Mark Pope always had his eye on him, Pat Kelsey also showed interest. Rumors also suggested that Rick Pitino will be keen on bringing Milan to St. John’s if things fell into place. The latest interested school was Tommy Lloyd’s Arizona.

Momcilovic seemed to lean towards Mark Pope and Kentucky even before he withdrew from the draft. He praised Pope and appreciated his brand of basketball. Pope and Kentucky also had multiple zoom calls with Milan. His possible future teammates also got involved in order to bring Momcilovic to Lexington. Kentucky insider now reports that the Wildcats have made their final offer. But so have Louisville.
“I think both Kentucky and Louisville gave their “final offers” to Milan yesterday. Louisville ended up raising theirs but I still think it’s slightly behind Kentucky’s The wildcard is Arizona. Nobody I have talked to has any idea where they are in it and if they are in ballpark,” Kentucky insider Matt Jones reported.
Reported cost of Milan Momcilovic is north of $4 million, going up to $7 million. Keeping in mind the salary space and the NIL budget left, Kentucky is still favored to complete their signing. However, the mystery around Arizona also gives a lot to think about. It is completely possible that Arizona actually becomes a “wildcard” in this whole operation and sweep in to sign Milan.
Fans react to Kentucky and Louisville seemingly sending final offers for Milan Momcilovic
Fans gave their opinion on where Milan could end up. The Kentucky fans dread that after all the speculation Milan could still commit to another team. Meanwhile, the rest of the fans questioned about the lack of information.

“So funny to watch this happen with every big recruit in the pope era. KSR gets cocky and runs their mouths about a recruit committing, then they start back pedaling it little by little,” one fan said.
“He did say he would want to play for a contender,” one fan said about Arizona.
“Told you guys from the start we have to stop being so gullible until he actually lands a top recruit. Get ready to be let down again. Hope for the best, expect the worst. It doesn’t hurt so bad that way,” one Kentucky fan expressed.
“Guy is a poster child for what is wrong with collegiate sports. Strings along multiple programs soaking in the attention, while demanding $7-8 BIG for 7 months of work. $7-8 BIG; but cannot play under the basket at 6’8 or guard anybody,” one fan claimed.

“It’s over a million behind. If it were slightly, he’d be a Card [Louisville Cardinal] already,” another fan commented.
“I’ve seen this movie too many times, the more this drags on the more it feels like another whiff,” one Kentucky fan feared.
“Doesn’t feel like it’s trending well for Kentucky. For Pope this feels like a job saver or the end. Hope I’m wrong. Defenses will clog the paint and we’re a .500 SEC team without him,” another fan said.
