Angel Reese addresses revenge narrative against Chicago Sky

There is no bad blood between Angel Reese and her former team, the Chicago Sky.

Reese is currently preparing for her first season with the Atlanta Dream after her blockbuster trade during the WNBA offseason. The 23-year-old spent the first two seasons of her career with the Sky, where she firmly established herself as one of the top frontcourt players in the WNBA.

Reese, however, had a tumultuous second season in Chicago. The team suspended her for half a game after she publicly announced her intention to move on if her goals were no longer aligned with the team’s.

Despite Reese’s strong play — she was named an All-Star for a second straight season — the Sky finished tied for the worst record in the WNBA at 10-34. They missed the playoffs for a second straight year.

Interestingly, the Dream will face the Sky in their first preseason game on Wednesday. Reese and Co. will be on the road as they take on a new-look Chicago side at Wintrust Arena.

Reese will make her Dream debut against her former team. This will also be the first time she will return to Chicago since her offseason trade.

Reese, however, made it abundantly clear that there is no ill will. When asked about the revenge narrative involving her former team, the 6-foot-3 forward was quick to shut it down.

“No, just another exciting opportunity for me to be in Chicago,” Reese said on Tuesday, via CBS News. “I loved my experience there. It was amazing, and seeing a lot of familiar faces on Wednesday is going to be good.”

Either way, all eyes will be on Reese when she makes her return to her former stomping ground. She may have no animosity toward the Sky, but there is no denying that she will do everything she can to beat them on Wednesday.
