Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky couldn’t get it done on Sunday night, falling to 1-2 to start their four-game road trip after an 80-75 loss to the Minnesota Lynx.

Although the Sky dropped to 5-12 on the 2025 WNBA season, Reese delivered another strong performance in her first game since being named an All-Star. The former LSU forward tallied 16 points on 7-of-16 shooting, 17 rebounds and six assists.
One of the biggest issues for Chicago in Sunday’s loss was the free-throw disparity. The Lynx went 14-of-17 from the line, including 11 attempts in the fourth quarter alone, while the Sky shot just 7-of-8 for the entire game. The nine-shot difference came despite Chicago committing more fouls, 17 to Minnesota’s 16.
Reese, who is constantly battling down low, only attempted two free throws on the day, making both. Throughout the game, she let the officials hear her frustration. And she did again afterward.

During a postgame press conference, Reese discussed the free-throw disparity, revealing her exchange with one of the officials.

“It’s tough when you talk to officials, and I asked them, ’hey, we only shot two free throws, we’ve only been to the free throw line twice up until the fourth quarter,’” Reese said. “And she tells me it’s not her job. It’s frustrating because I know how hard we’re battling inside. And I think we came down and fought as hard as we could with what we had. I just know we’ll continue to grow in this, and I think it’s a leaping step for us.”
Reese then made her feelings about the lack of calls clear, regardless of the potential fine.
“Obviously, you know, we can compete with the best, but that has to be fixed and I don’t give a damn if I get fined because that (expletive) cheap and I am tired of this (expletive),” she added. “Because I’ve been nice and humble with it, but I am tired of this (expletive).”

Reese also added this in a post after the loss.
“idgaf. DO BETTER. @WNBA.”
Reese was fined $100 in early June for “failing to make herself available to the media for interviews.” It seems likely that another may be coming her way, awaiting the WNBA’s decision.
