After falling to the Indiana Fever in the 2025 WNBA season opener, Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky will get a chance at revenge on Saturday. But this time, the Fever will be without Caitlin Clark, who is battling a left quad strain.

Since joining the WNBA in 2024, Reese has arguably become the league’s second-most talked-about player. Whether it’s her performance on the court or her bold outfit choices, fans are paying attention to the former LSU star.

But some have spread false stories about Reese, including a fabricated comment she supposedly made about Atlanta Dream center Brittney Griner.

“Angel Reese says Prime Britney Griner would beat Prime Allen Iverson!” the Thursday post read.

While Griner may be one of the better players in WNBA history, averaging 21.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in her prime (2017), Reese certainly did not say this. On Friday, just one day removed from the false report, Reese was quick to point out the lie.

“when did i say this??” Reese wrote on X. “yall really make up something new everyday lmaooo.”

Reese followed up with a second social media post just three minutes later, ultimately claiming the lies are influenced by money.

“I really hope that check be worth the amount of lies yall make up EVERYDAY i REALLYYYYY hope,” she added.

The Sky struggled to begin their first season under new head coach Tyler Marsh, dropping their first four games. However, two straight wins over Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings have them at 2-4 entering Saturday’s game against Indiana.

Through the first six games, Reese has seen a slight drop in her numbers from last season. In 2025, she is averaging 10.0 points per game, down from 13.6 per game last season. She is also averaging 12.3 rebounds per game this year compared to 13.1 per game in 2024.

The Sky and the Fever will battle it out at the United Center in Chicago on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET.
