Angel Reese is ready to take on Atlanta.

“I was so excited when I finally found out,” Reese, 23, tells PEOPLE exclusively, one day after she was traded from the Chicago Sky. “The team has welcomed me so much, the atmosphere, the culture … I’m so excited to be in A-Town.”

Reese was on the red carpet in New York City early Tuesday, April 7 to help Victoria’s Secret launch its new campaign “The Season of Strapless,” in which the WNBA player stars.

The former LSU standout shares with PEOPLE that she’s thrilled to be featured in the campaign.

“The photos came out phenomenal,” Reese says. “I look amazing and this collection is gonna be so amazing because the strapless bra is back, baby!”

Of the Barbados shoot, Reese recalls being “in the water and the waves were hitting me, the sand was in every place it shouldn’t have been.”

“But it was so much fun,” she adds.

On Monday, the star forward was the center of attention after the news of the trade broke, and now she’s sharing a message for Dream fans.

“Atlanta, what up? ATL barbie is in town and I am here to stay,” Reese says.

Reese was selected seventh overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2023 WNBA Draft.

On Monday, April 6, the Sky’s general manager said sending Reese to Atlanta in exchange for two first-round picks “is designed to achieve roster balance and represents a great opportunity for all parties.”

“Angel has achieved many record-breaking milestones in her first two years in the WNBA and has been a competitive force for the Sky,” Sky GM Jeff Pagliocca said.

In a statement to The Athletic after the news was announced, Reese said she’s “beyond grateful for the opportunity to join the Atlanta Dream organization” and “focused on continuing to grow my game, competing at the highest level, connecting with the fans and giving everything I’ve got to the Dream.”

The WNBA star also celebrated the news on social media, writing, “An Angel’s DREAM. ATL WHAT UP??” in a post on X showing off her new uniform and sharing photos of herself in an Atlanta Dream sweatshirt.
