Fifty days after one of the most surprising moves in recent WNBA history, Angel Reese looks completely comfortable with her new team. The blockbuster trade that sent Reese from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream in April immediately changed expectations around both franchises. Chicago moved on from one of the league’s fastest-rising stars after just two seasons, while Atlanta aggressively pushed its chips toward contending in the Eastern Conference.

So far, the early results have looked exactly like the Dream hoped. Atlanta opened the 2026 season with a 4-1 record, tied for the best mark in the WNBA entering Memorial Day week. Reese has already become a major part of that success, averaging 12.8 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks per game through her first five contests with the franchise.
But beyond the production, Reese’s latest social media post may have revealed even more about how she feels regarding the move.
Angel Reese appears fully embraced by Atlanta
After Atlanta’s recent wins over the Dallas Wings and Phoenix Mercury, Reese posted a collection of photos and videos showing herself celebrating with teammates both during games and behind the scenes. Her caption quickly grabbed attention.

“Game 4 and Game 5: reasons why i ran to ATLANTA youknowwhatimsayinnnn,” Reese wrote.
It was a pretty revealing statement from the former All-Star, especially considering how difficult things became during her short tenure in Chicago. The Sky never posted a winning season during Reese’s two years with the organization and failed to reach the playoffs in either campaign. Even though Reese consistently produced double-doubles and became one of the WNBA’s biggest stars, Chicago struggled to build momentum around her.
Atlanta already looks different.

Dream showing the balance Reese never had in Chicago
One reason Reese’s message resonated is that Atlanta has already shown multiple ways it can win. The Dream dominated Dallas in an 86-69 victory that included a highly anticipated matchup against Paige Bueckers. Then Atlanta followed that performance by grinding out an ugly 82-80 win over Phoenix after battling through offensive struggles for much of the night.
That versatility matters early in a season. Championship-level teams usually prove they can overwhelm opponents when everything clicks while also surviving difficult nights when shots are not falling. Atlanta has already flashed both traits within its first five games.
Reese also appears noticeably more connected with her teammates. Several moments from her post showed the Dream bench celebrating together and enjoying the team’s fast start, something Atlanta hopes becomes part of its identity throughout the season. There is still a long way to go before anyone crowns the Dream as a title contender. But 50 days after the trade that reshaped two franchises, Reese’s message made one thing very clear.
