Chicago Sky star Angel Reese just can’t catch a break.
After being on the receiving end of criticisms as fans keep comparing her to Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark—especially after their respective performances against the Brazil women’s national team—Reese found herself facing scrutiny once again for her latest personal decision.

Reese missed the Sky’s practice on Monday due to her commitment at the 2025 Met Gala. The WNBA All-Star is part of the host committee, and she had to be in New York for the annual event.
Chicago has a scheduled preseason game against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday, so fans took issue with her decision to prioritize a party instead of focusing on the team and its upcoming contest.
“Still can’t make a layup or draw fans to her games. Pathetic!” a critic wrote.
“Missing practice for a party?” a commenter added.
“Angel Reese needs to skip that event and work on her layups. She was whining about not having enough money, I’m sure she could’ve paid her rent for as much as it cost to go to that,” a poster further stated.

Another social media user echoed a similar sentiment, noting, “Angel Reese need to be working on her lay-ups and not being at the MET.”
A fifth poster shared, “Why Angel Reese at the MET and not Wisdom??? Smh.”
“Could be working on balance and footwork but this is more importanter!” a WNBA fan further stated.

Despite the criticisms, the positive buzz has outweighed the negative talk about Reese. Several fans praised her for her outfit and overall look in the event, while others highlighted how important it is for the Sky star to show people that they are more than just athletes.
“FACE OF THE LEAGUE,” a supporter wrote. Another fan shared, “WNBA ROYALTY ICON! TRENDSETTER!!
