British Championships, Day 6 Women’s Finals: Angharad Evans Eyes Breaststroke Double

Angharad Evans posted a standout 100m breaststroke prelim en-route to lane four for the final at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships in London.

The Scot went 1:06.22 at the London Aquatics Centre for the sixth-fastest time by a British woman in history and one bettered only by Evans and Molly Renshaw, whose former national record stood at 1:06.21.

Evans’ form begs the question of whether she can lower her British record of 1:05.54 set at the AP Race International in the very same pool in May 2024. She has already booked her spot for Singapore worlds in the 200 where she went 2:21.96 to go third all-time among British women.

Freya Anderson has yet to seal her spot at the World Championships in Singapore and looked ominous in the 100 free prelims. Amelie Blocksidge is in lane four of the 800 free with the 16-year-old already crowned 1500 champion.

To qualify for the Singapore worlds – which run from 27 July to 3 August – a swimmer must finish first in an Olympic event and record a time that equals or betters those in the table below. Athletes that finish second in a time equal or better than that in the table will be considered for selection to a team that will have a maximum of 30 athletes.
