Angle Reese attending Met Gala after rocky preseason showing

The Atlanta Dream made a blockbuster trade with the Chicago Sky to acquire superstar forward Angel Reese, who had a somewhat contentious relationship with the Sky’s front office.

“Angel is a dynamic talent and a perfect fit for what we are building in Atlanta,” Atlanta general manager Dan Padover said in a statement. “She has already proven herself as one of the most impactful players in the league, and her competitiveness, production and drive to win align seamlessly with our vision. This is an exciting moment for our organization and our fans.”

However, Reese has yet to find her groove in Atlanta, turning in inconsistent performances in her preseason with her new team.

Reese shot just 2-for-7 from the field in her first preseason game, against the Sky, and then went  3-for-7 from the field in her home debut against the Washington Mystics. While not exactly efficient in terms of scoring, Reese still managed to own the glass in each game, averaging 5.5 rebounds in limited minutes.

The Dream will need Reese to pick up things on the offensive end, but there’s still plenty of time for the her and the team to iron things out.

In the meantime, Reese is preparing to attend Monday night’s Met Gala and is proud of the way women’s sports are breaking out.

“It’s just another expansion of women’s sports and continuing to build our brand outside of being a basketball player…” Reese said, via USA Today reporter Meghan L. Hall. “There are going to be some WNBA players there … That should just be the standard.”
