Another top 2027 prospect, 5-star DL, cancels Notre Dame official visit
While Notre Dame football has a great 2027 recruiting class, some of its top remaining targets are opting to not make their scheduled official visits.

Thursday night it was wide receiver Osani Gayles opting not to take his trip to South Bend, and Friday saw the same with defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou. The 6-foot- 6-inch and 275-pounder announced to start the weekend that he will be only considering Ohio State, Georgia and Texas going forward as reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
There was some momentum for the Irish with the No. 24 overall recruit according to the 247Sports Composite, as his last scheduled visit was to see Notre Dame. However with Friday’s development, that clearly won’t happen.
The silver lining here is that the Irish will be hosting another 5-star defensive lineman in Abraham Sesay this weekend. At this point, Notre Dame looks like the team to beat in his recruitment.
While missing out on Fakatou isn’t ideal, defensive lineman David Folorunsho, Aidan O’Neil, Jackson Vaughn and Richie Flanigan are currently committed to Notre Dame in the 2027 class.
