Army Black Knights Lock In 2027 Verbal From SwimAtlanta’s Kohlston Katz
NEW COMMIT: The United States Military Academy at West Point has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Kohlston Katz of Cumming, Georgia. Katz is a U.S. Open qualifier who excels in the 400 IM and mid-distance freestyle.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am extremely blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the United States Military Academy at West Point. First, I would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity to pursue my goals and be the best version of myself. Also to my parents and my sister for supporting me through this journey. Especially, Coach Jordan at SwimAtlanta and my teammates for helping shape me into the person and swimmer I am today. Lastly, I want to thank the entire Army coaching staff for guiding me through the process and for giving me this opportunity. Go Army! Beat Navy!”
Katz, who does his club swimming with SwimAtlanta, competed in four events at Juniors East in December after notching a best time in the 200 free at Georgia Seniors the week prior. Last summer, he placed fourth in the 400 IM and 15th in the 400m free at Ocala Futures.
His best times include:
- 400 IM – 3:56.40
- 200 free – 1:39.67
- 500 free – 4:29.53
- 1000 free – 9:28.11
- 1650 free – 15:57.11
- 100 back – 51.05
- 200 back – 1:47.97
Currently a junior at South Forsyth High School, Katz recently earned silver in the 500 free and bronze in the 200 free at the 2026 Georgia 6A State Championships while helping his 4×100 free relay to gold and his 4×50 free relay to silver. He finished third in both the 200 free and 500 free at the state meet as a sophomore.
The Black Knights are coming off a second-place finish at the 2026 Patriot League Championships where they produced seven All-Patriot League selections and the Men’s Swimmer of the Meet in Johnny Crush. Army set two program records and three meet records at the conference championship.
