IU women’s basketball alum Grace Berger has been waived by the Indiana Fever, according to the WNBA transactions page.
Berger was the No. 7 pick out of IU in the 2023 draft after an illustrious five-year Hoosiers career.
She made the AP All-Rookie team in 2023, averaging 4.2 points and 1.9 assists per game. Her role decreased in 2024, however, only appearing in 11 games (mostly in garbage time) and averaging 2.8 points in those appearances.
The Fever have made multiple moves in the free agency period so far, which included re-signing guard Kelsey Mitchell and adding Natasha Howard, DeWanna Bonner, Sophie Cunningham and Jaelyn Brown. Those additions, while making the Fever better, made the guard room overcrowded. It left little room for Berger.

With these high-profile signings, as well, the Fever needed to make up some cap space. Berger was set to make $79,999, but it is unprotected, so Indiana can waive her without monetary penalty.
If Berger clears waivers, she will become an unrestricted free agent able to sign with any team in the WNBA.
