Alex Golesh and the Auburn football coaching staff are in a great position to make their first giant splash in high school recruiting.
Steve Wiltfong and Greg Smith of Rivals revealed a prediction Monday that favors Auburn landing the pledge of a top-five quarterback from the 2027 recruiting class, Israel Abrams. Abrams, a four-star quarterback from Lombard, Illinois, is the No. 3 quarterback of the cycle and ranks as high as No. 2 in his position.

In a recent interview with Rivals, Abrams said he has built a relationship with Auburn offensive coordinator Joel Gordon and assistant quarterbacks coach Hayden Kingston, and views Golesh as “a type of man I want to be coached under.” Wiltfong predicted Abrams to land with Iowa State before former head coach Matt Campbell departed for Penn State. Now that the prediction has swung in Auburn’s favor, the Tigers must fight off strong calls from Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida State, and Iowa before signing day in December.
Auburn has the No. 51 recruiting class according to 247Sports, with one commitment in three-star tight end Trae “Tank” Proctor. Adding Abrams would be a giant step in Golesh’s recruiting efforts and could lead to many more quality recruits signing with the Tigers before the cycle ends.
