Avalanche Prospect Named to Team Canada’s World Juniors Roster

by

Hockey Canada announced their roster for the IIHF U20 World Juniors tournament today. Among a young star-studded team, Avalanche prospect Calum Ritchie made the cut.

The 19-year-old forward was selected 27th overall by the Avalanche in the 2023 NHL draft.

Ritchie made his NHL debut this season with the Avalanche. He spent seven games with Colorado this season, scoring only one point in the form of a goal. The organization sent him back to the OHL at the end of October.

With the OHL’s Oshawa Senators this season, he’s recorded eight goals and 28 assists for a total of 34 points in 18 games played. These stats have earned him a spot among team leaders, placing 3rd in points and 2nd in assists.

Jett Luchanko (Philadelphia Flyers) and Bradly Nadeau (Carolina Hurricanes) are the only other players from the Team Canada roster to have made their NHL debuts.

Ritchie made the U18 WJC roster back in 2022-23, during which he tallied 3 goals and 6 assists in 7 games played.
