Avalanche Recent Waiver Activity Adds Flexibility to Fourth Line

by

Forwards Chris Wagner and Tye Felhaber, the latter of whom just signed a new two-way contract with the team, were placed on waivers. Wagner cleared and Felhaber’s placement was announced on Wednesday.

Wagner has played 22 games with the Avalanche this season and 5 with their AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles. Wagner has scored one goal with each club in each of those stints. He was previously placed on waivers back on November 14th. Due to waiver requirements, Wagner had to be placed on waivers again in order to be sent back down to the AHL, which was announced on Tuesday morning. He cleared as of Wednesday. This is his third waiver transaction of the season.

Another announcement came on Wednesday as well, announcing that the Avalanche placed forward Tye Felhaber on waivers. The Avalanche just recently signed Felhaber to a two-year, two-way contract, making it possible to call him up to the NHL to reinforce their injury-ridden roster.

The 26-year-old forward made his NHL debut on Tuesday during Colorado’s game against the Vancouver Canucks, where the Avalanche lost 3-1.

The NHL’s roster freeze is set to start on December 20th, meaning NHL teams cannot initiate transactions, whether it be trades, moves between the NHL and their AHL affiliates, or waiver claims. They can begin making transactions again after December 27th.
