Azzi Fudd and the top-seeded UConn Huskies will continue their push for a second consecutive championship on Friday night, when they take on the fourth-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels in a Sweet 16 showdown at Dickies Arena in Forth Worth, Tex.

But it’s hard to ignore what is waiting for Fudd when UConn’s NCAA Tournament run ends.

Fudd is arguably the top prospect available in April 13’s WNBA Draft, where the Dallas Wings own the top pick for the second successive season.
Though Fudd’s focus remains on extending the Huskies’ 52-game winning streak and capping a perfect season with another national title, it is a strong possibility that the sharpshooting senior guard could reunite with former UConn teammate Paige Bueckers in Texas.

Asked about those chances during media availability on Thursday, Fudd mustered a “maybe” amid projections that she will go first overall in next month’s draft.
Bueckers was present at UConn’s practice on Thursday, and Fudd said it was “really nice having her back” as the Huskies prepared to take on the Tar Heels.
“She didn’t actually do anything cause they were playing defense, so she just sat next to coach and did her thing. Yapped the whole time,” Fudd told reporters. “It was nice to see a familiar face, definitely good vibes, and lots of smiles when she walked in.”
