Backstroker Amelie Meyer of Cavalier Aquatics Gives 2027 Verbal to Army

NEW COMMIT: The United States Military Academy at West Point has scored a verbal commitment for Fall 2027 from Futures qualifier Amelie Meyer of Charlottesville, Va. Meyer is primarily a backstroker.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the United States Military Academy at West Point. I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches for their support throughout this process. I would also like to thank Coach Megan, Coach Kelly, Coach Brandt, and the rest of the Army coaching staff for giving me this opportunity. GO ARMY”

Meyer, who does her club swimming with Cavalier Aquatics, was a four-time finalist at the NC YOTA 32nd Annual YOTA/Arena Capital meet back in December. Back in March 2025, she finished 14th in the 200 back at YMCA Short Course Nationals.

Last summer, Meyer finaled in the 200m IM at Virginia Long Course Senior Championships before going on to compete in five events at Greensboro Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 26.34
  • 100 back – 56.66
  • 200 back – 2:01.63
  • 200 IM – 2:07.56
  • 100 free – 52.58

Currently a junior at Albemarle High School, Meyer finished fifth in both the 100 back and 100 free at the 2025 Virginia Class 5 State Championships after winning the 100 free at the VHSL Region 5C Championship a few weeks prior. She raced to third in the 100 back and sixth in the 200 free at the state meet during her freshman season.

The Black Knights are coming off a second-place finish at the 2026 Patriot League Championships where they produced seven All-Patriot League selections and the Women’s Swimmer of the Meet in Angie McKane. Army set seven program records and six meet records at the conference championship.
