Backstroker Chase Knopf Verbally Commits to Louisville for 2026
NEW COMMIT: The University of Louisville has kept in-state standout Chase Knopf out of Union, Kentucky, in the Bluegrass State for his college career as Knopf announced his commitment to the Cardinals for Fall 2026.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am extremely excited to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic future at the University of Louisville. I would like to thank my parents, my friends and teammates, Coach David, the coaching staff of Louisville, and everyone who has helped me throughout this process. GO CARDS!!!”
A backstroker and U.S. Open qualifier, Knopf does his club swimming with Northern Kentucky Clippers. He earned silver in the 200m back this past summer at Columbia Sectionals where he also placed fifth in both the 400m free and 400m IM. He swept both backstroke events at the ISCA International Senior Cup in March.
His best times include:
- 200 back – 1:46.67
- 100 back – 50.18
- 200 free – 1:39.88
- 100 free – 46.19
- 50 free – 21.14
- 400 IM – 3:56.55
- 200 IM – 1:55.61
Currently a junior at Ryle High School, Knopf earned bronze in the 200 free and took ninth in the 100 back at the 2024 Kentucky State Championships. He finished sixth and ninth, respectively, in those events during his freshman year.
