The late Greg Biffle, who won the first NASCAR race at Nashville Superspeedway in 2001, was inducted into the track’s Legends Plaza, it was announced last Saturday.
Biffle, who died last December in an aviation accident near his home in North Carolina, took the inaugural checkered flag at the newly-constructed 1.3-mile oval in the Pepsi 300 on April 14, 2001, driving the No. 60 Grainger Ford for Roush Racing in what is now known as the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.

Biffle joins inaugural Legends Plaza member Carl Edwards, who was inducted in 2023, in the track’s hall of honor for drivers who have had the most success and made the biggest impact on Nashville Superspeedway.
One of the most decorated stock car racers in the 2000s, Biffle was named one of NASCAR’s 75 greatest drivers.
He won NASCAR championships in both the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (2000) and the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series (2002) and also secured 19 NASCAR Cup Series race victories.
Biffle claimed the coveted first win at Nashville Superspeedway by leading a race-best 133 laps and holding off rival Jason Keller by 0.602 of a second at the checkered flag. That victory was also Biffle’s first NASCAR victory of any kind. The Pepsi 300 win also led to four more victories during the season and the Rookie of the Year title. He scored a NASCAR series championship the following year.
