The Dallas Wings enter the 2025 season looking to rebound from a 9-31 finish in 2024, their worst winning percentage in over a decade.
Despite ranking fourth in scoring (84.2 PPG), the Wings struggled defensively, allowing 92.1 points per game, the most in the WNBA.

Dallas did, however, secure the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, a move that has already begun reshaping expectations.
Paige Bueckers arrives in Dallas as one of the most decorated college players of her generation.
On Tuesday, WNBA writer Rob Tiongson confirmed that Bueckers signed her four-year rookie scale contract with Dallas, officially launching her professional career.
A three-time first-team All-Big East selection, Bueckers led UConn to its 12th national title in 2025 and finished her career with 2,439 points, the third most in program history.
Over her four seasons in Storrs, Bueckers also had the highest career scoring average (19.9 PPG) of any player in program history.

Selected first overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Bueckers immediately became the centerpiece of the Wings’ long-term plan.
Under the current CBA, Bueckers will earn $78,831 in 2025, $80,408 in 2026, $88,449 in 2027, and $100,510 in 2028, totaling $348,198 over the contract’s duration.

As Bueckers prepares to report to training camp on April 27, Dallas will open its season on May 16 against the Minnesota Lynx, marking the first opportunity for fans to see their No. 1 pick in action.
With Bueckers’ contract signed and a young, talent-rich roster in place, Dallas aims to shed its underdog status.
