Earlier this month, the rebuilding Miami Dolphins parted ways with edge rusher Bradley Chubb, not because he’s lost his skills as a pass rusher, but for salary cap reasons. With the opportunity to test out his options in free agency, Chubb decided to join the team that had tormented him for much of his NFL career.
Since coming into the league as the fifth overall pick of the Denver Broncos in the 2018 NFL Draft — the same draft where the Buffalo Bills picked Josh Allen at No. 7 — Chubb’s teams lost their first eight matchups with the Bills, with Allen and Buffalo averaging more than 34 points per game against Chubb’s teams.

So Chubb decided if he couldn’t beat Allen, he should join Allen’s Bills, signing a three-year deal worth $43.5 million with $29 million in guaranteed money.
On Thursday, Chubb met with the media for his introductory press conference, and today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off by recapping what Chubb had to say about joining the Bills, including why, after years of being tormented by Josh Allen during losses to Bills, Chubb is excited to join a perennial Super Bowl contender and prove he’s still a talented edge rusher.

In the aftermath of the Dolphins releasing Bradley Chubb, the veteran edge rusher said he had a few different suitors, but in the end, he opted for the Bills because he knew the team is close to winning it all and he wanted to help Buffalo finally get over the hump and win a Super Bowl title.

“The last few days have been hectic, just kind of going back and forth with my agent about different teams, different opportunities, and I felt like this one presented the best opportunity to go out there and win,” Chubb said. “Before I even got released, I was like, ‘Man, I went to the Super Bowl (as a spectator), I saw what it’s like, I saw the atmosphere, I saw the feeling, and I just want to win. I want to make sure I win.’ Ended up getting released and free agency came, and I feel like this put me in the best position to do that.”
Chubb is coming off a 2025 season that saw him record 8.5 sacks with 43 tackles (eight for a loss) with 20 quarterback hits in 17 games. Coming to Buffalo, where new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard will employ a base 3-4 defense, perfectly fits Chubb’s strengths as a standup outside linebacker/edge rusher.
“I feel like I’m one of those pieces to help us get over the hump,” Chubb said. “That’s the reason I came here, man. Just to be a part of something that can be special. I’m not promising we’re gonna win the Super Bowl. I’m not promising we’re gonna do all this, but I feel like, what I’ve seen in the past, what I know I bring to the table, I feel like it’s a great mix.”

Bills bring in more depth at safety
After signing veteran safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson to a one-year contract earlier in the week, the Bills continued to bring in talent and depth at the safety position, reportedly agreeing with free-agent safety Geno Stone on a one-year deal.
Stone comes to Western New York after spending the last two seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. Last year, Stone recorded 104 tackles (65 solo) to go with two interceptions (including a pick six), four pass breakups and a pair of sacks.
Stone did have the dubious distinction of leading the NFL in missed tackles last year (26). Over his last four seasons, Stone has proven to be incredibly durable, playing in all 68 games and making 52 starts.
