Leonard Miller may have initially been viewed as a minor piece in the deal that sent Ayo Dosunmu to Minnesota, but his recent play has turned heads within the Bulls organization, according to Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times.

Over the past few weeks, Miller has made a strong impression and is building a case to remain with the team beyond the 2025/26 season.

Head coach Billy Donovan admitted he didn’t know much about Miller prior to the trade due to his limited NBA experience, but that opinion has quickly changed as he’s seen more of him on the court.

“He’s a live body, he competes [and] he’s really long,” Donovan said. “He kind of has this instinctive way about him on the glass and chasing balls.

“Even defensively, he’s multidimensional. I think the biggest thing with him is he plays so instinctively that he catches up to the league and really understands digging in on film and personnel, guarding, game plans. I think he’s only going to get better because he’s got a really good motor.”

The Bulls hold a $2.4MM team option on Miller for next season, and his recent production has strengthened his outlook.

Over his last 17 games, he has averaged 14.6 points and 7.3 rebounds while shooting .538 from the field, .358 from three, and .743 from the free-throw line in 28.0 minutes per game.
