by

The 2024-25 season is almost here and the Chicago Blackhawks are about to get going. It was announced that training camp will open on Thursday, September 19 as well as a media availability for general manager Kyle Davidson.

Just under a week after training camp opens in Chicago, preseason games for the Blackhawks kick off on Wednesday, September 25 at home against the Detroit Red Wings.

The Blackhawks have a total of just six preseason games this season. The first two come against the Red Wings with the second game played in Detroit on Friday, September 27. The Blackhawks travel to St. Louis to face the Blues on the following day (Sept. 28) before their third and final away game of the preseason against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, October 1.

Chicago closes out their preseason games back at home for a back-to-back on Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5. Friday’s game is against the Wild again and the following day the Blackhawks host the Blues.

Mixed into those two and a half weeks of training camp includes 16 practices and three scheduled days off (every Sunday). There are a lot of talented young players that are trying to win spots on the Blackhawks this season and should make decisions very difficult.

Regular season games for the Blackhawks start on October 8 and they will be the first team to visit the new home of Utah (formerly Arizona Coyotes) this season. There may be some surprises in training camp and some impressive showings from prospects not yet ready to step into the NHL, but it is a great place to showcase talent against other hungry young players and full-time NHLers.
