It has been two years since Blake Griffin officially retired from the NBA, but the mentality he had built fueled his achievements over 13 seasons.

Griffin said that he was never scared to take the biggest shot because of the positivity that he would make it, rather than thinking what if he missed.

“Never. I loved it. That’s the thing I miss the most, the big, high-pressure moment. You can’t really replicate that. The moment is so big, and you don’t know what’s going to happen,’ Griffin said, per Josh Chambers.

The six-time All-Star shared a message of positivity that could relate to many young athletes on how he started his career if pressure was high.

“You kind of have your play, but things go out the window, and you have to improvise. It never went through my mind, ‘What if I miss?’ It was always, ‘What if I make it?’”

Despite the 6-foo-9 bigman earned the Rookie of the Year Award in 2011, doubts and struggles still came his way into the offseason.

“Even after my rookie year, I remember the offseason I had this lingering insecurity of, ‘What if I can’t do that again?’ What if I can’t have a good year? What if I’m not good enough? Even after sort of proving yourself. And I didn’t mind it at all. It made you hungry,” he added.
