Quarterback Bo Nix and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle are new teammates with the Denver Broncos, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t familiar with each other’s game.
In 2019, Nix and Waddle were on opposite sides of the ball during one of the most passion-filled rivalries in college football, The Iron Bowl: Nix, playing for Auburn, Waddle for Alabama. In the 93-point affair, Nix and Waddle showed their skills off in a big way. Nix was in his freshman year, and leading the 15th-ranked Tigers against Waddle’s fifth-ranked Crimson Tide. The stakes? If Alabama won, they likely would have had a path into the College Football Playoff. If Auburn won, it would keep Alabama out of the then-four-team Playoff format.

During the game, Nix and Waddle combined for six touchdowns. Nix had one passing and one rushing score, while Waddle had three receiving touchdowns and one kickoff return for a touchdown. Nix would eventually get the last laugh, as Auburn spoiled Alabama’s bid for a national championship in a 48-45 win.
You can watch their highlights from the amazing game below.
Now, Waddle and Nix are on the same side, hoping to recreate the magic from that 2019 game together seven years later.
Time will tell how it will turn out.
