Feb. 14—OGDEN, Utah — Marah Dykstra scored 14 points to lead a balanced Montana State offense, and the league-leading Bobcats used a huge third quarter to brush aside Weber State 63-45 in Big Sky Conference women’s basketball Thursday.
Katelynn Martin and Natalie Pickton added nine points each for the Bobcats (23-2 overall, 13-0 in Big Sky games), who had 10 players score. They didn’t shoot well — 22 of 61 from the floor and 5 of 29 from the 3-point arc — but a 24-8 third-quarter surge put them in command.
Montana State led 25-21 at halftime, but Martin’s 3-pointer at 9:15 of the third quarter started a 12-0 surge that ended with Dykstra’s three at 6:29. That put MSU up 37-21, and Martin’s layup just before the horn made it 49-29 going to the fourth.
Martin had six rebounds and a blocked shot for MSU; Taylor Chirrick had four rebounds, three steals and two assists to go with five points.
Weber State (9-13, 6-6 in league) was led by T Smith’s nine points. She also had six rebounds. The Wildcats eight eight points and six rebounds from Lanae Billy.
Idaho St. 66, Montana 56
POCATELLO, Idaho — Tasia Jordan led three Idaho State players in double figures with 14 points, and the Bengals pulled away in the second half to beat the Lady Griz.
Alyse Aby added 13 points for the Bengals and Piper Carlson sched in with 11 points and nine boards. Idaho State ruled the glass 43-27. Jordan and Carlson each had eight points in the second half as the Bengals (9-14, 4-8 in the Big Sky) built on a 32-30 lead at the break.
Mack Konig had 17 points and six rebounds for Montana (10-14, 6-7). Izabel Zingaro added 14 points and five boards.
