Bowling in the Motor City? Latest projections have MSU staying close to home in bowl game

by

Michigan State football picked up a massive win last week in its effort to snap its three-year bowl drought, and to no surprise Erick Smith of USA TODAY Sports has the Spartans in his latest bowl projections.

Smith released his latest bowl projections on Tuesday, with the Spartans included in the mix. For another week, Smith has Michigan State landing in the GameAbove Sports Bowl in Detroit. This bowl would be played at Ford Field on December 26.

Smith’s projected bowl opponent for the Spartans is the Toledo Rockets out of the Mid-American Conference.

Michigan State is off to a 2-0 start for a second straight season, and will host FCS foe Youngstown State on Saturday as their final non-conference game of the regular season. Should Michigan State take care of business and beat the Penguins, they’ll improve to 3-0 for the second straight season, which hasn’t happened since 2007.
