MADISON – Bradie Ewing is proof that those ties that bind from college aren’t easily broken.
The Richland Center native joined the Wisconsin football program as a walk at fullback in 2008 and by the time he was done had ascended to captain’s status while helping the program win Big Ten titles in 2010 and ‘11.

Four years later he was back on campus as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Now he has returned for the next chapter.
Ewing has rejoined the football program this time as the director of football alumni relations. The role calls for him to coordinate alumni engagements and serve as a liaison between the football program and its alumni.
UW announced the news Wednesday.
“Bradie is a perfect fit for our alumni relations role,” head coach Luke Fickell in a press release. “He understands what makes the University of Wisconsin and Badger football special. He will do an excellent job fostering relationships with our alumni and maintaining the traditions and values that define our program.”

Ewing played in 52 games for Wisconsin. During his first two seasons he played primarily special teams. As a junior and senior, he also worked at fullback. As a senior he caught 20 passes for 246 yards and one touchdown.

“It’s a hugely important position,” athletic director Chris McIntosh said of the alumni relations position during an interview in February. “It’s a hugely important endeavor to engage with our former players, especially at a time when there’s so much change taking place across the industry. I think it’s important for our football alum to be kept up to speed on what’s going on within the program, how we’re evolving and navigating these times.
“It’s also important that our football alums understand how welcome they are to engage with the program, to come back, to know the value.”
Ewing was drafted in the fifth round of the 2012 draft by Atlanta. He spent three years in the league, splitting time with the Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars.
“I’m honored to return to Wisconsin,” Ewing said in the press release. “I’m thankful for the opportunity to connect with former players and alumni that helped lay the foundation of Badger football. The culture here is rooted in the pride of being a Badger, and I’m excited to strengthen those ties and keep our alumni connected to the program moving forward.”
