BREAKING: BYU guard Aleksej Kostić commits to Northwestern men’s basketball

BYU freshman Aleksej Kostić has committed to Northwestern, Jonathan Givony (@DraftExpress) on X announced.

The 6-foot-4 guard from Pfaffstätten, Austria averaged 4.4 points in 12.0 minutes per game off the bench for the Cougars last season. In the first 19 games Kostić played, he was on the floor for 10 or more minutes just five times. In the last eight games of the season, including the Big 12 Tournament and the NCAA Tournament, he averaged 21.8 minutes per game, starting the final five. In this eight-game stretch, Kostić averaged 9.1 points and 1.5 rebounds while shooting 38.9% from three. Prior to BYU, Kostić spent time playing in the Austrian Superliga for the Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions, where he averaged 6.5 points per game and shot 36.3% from 3-point range. He also led Austria to a fourth-place finish in Division B in the 2013 FIBA U18 Eurobasket, where he averaged 19.1 points per game.
