On Thursday, the NCAA announced that its enforcement staff is pursuing sports betting violations for six different college basketball teams.
There are reportedly 13 former men’s college basketball players who committed sports betting violations during their time on the hardwood. The student-athletes who are under investigation were associated with the following six schools: Eastern Michigan, Temple, Arizona State, New Orleans, North Carolina A&T and Mississippi Valley.

As of now, the schools mentioned in this case aren’t believed to be actually involved in the violations that took place.
“The NCAA monitors over 22,000 contests every year and will continue to aggressively pursue competition integrity risks such as these,” NCAA President Charlie Baker said. “I am grateful for the NCAA enforcement team’s relentless work and for the schools’ cooperation in these matters. The rise of sports betting is creating more opportunity for athletes across sports to engage in this unacceptable behavior, and while legalized sports betting is here to stay, regulators and gaming companies can do more to reduce these integrity risks by eliminating prop bets and giving sports leagues a seat at the table when setting policies.”

College basketball has gambling problem on its hands.
Earlier this week, the NCAA announced that three basketball players from Fresno State and San Jose State were permanently banned from competition for violating sports gambling rules. According to the NCAA Committee on Infractions, Mykell Robinson agreed to underperform to help Steven Vasquez and a third party win a parlay.

“Robinson and Vasquez had been roommates at Fresno State during the 2023-24 season. In January 2025, Robinson and Vasquez — who was then competing for San Jose State — discussed over text message that Robinson planned to underperform in several statistical categories during one regular-season game. Robinson, Vasquez and a third party bet a combined $2,200 on Robinson for his under-line performance in those categories. As a result of Robinson’s underperformance, a $15,950 payout was redistributed among those who had bet,” the press release from the NCAA states.
Jalen Weaver, meanwhile, placed a $50 prop bet on himself before a game in December 2024.
