Brittney Griner dunked in an Unrivaled game, and it was epic.
No, BG isn’t the BG of old, but she’s still BG. The 34-year-old center hoped to prove that when she signed up to join Unrivaled. Thankfully, it’s worked out very well. She has a new deal with Atlanta after leaving Phoenix and looks spry.
BG seems to be feeling so good that she dunked in a game on Monday night. The big girl threw it DOWN. It was so smooth and unexpected that had I not been watching it live myself, I wouldn’t have believed it. Here’s that dope moment during the Phantom’s matchup against the Lunar Owls.
After the game, it was only right that Lisa Leslie, the first woman to dunk in a WNBA game, asked the first woman to dunk in Unrivaled history about that moment.
“It was awesome,” Leslie said to BG during a presser.”When I sit down and think about it, you know it definitely is,” Griner said, reflecting. “I’ll be able to hold that — got to do it with you here as well — so, I mean that was pretty cool, too, honestly, when I take the time to think about it.”
“Just know, we are so happy to have you here at Unrivaled,” Leslie sweetly chimed in moments later. “You’re not just back. You’re back and better … You warm our hearts … It’s great to see you be able to finish out your career.”
NEW: Brittney Griner became the first player to dunk in Unrivaled history tonight. Here is Lisa Leslie, the first player to dunk in a WNBA game, interviewing her after the game.
