The Dream center is also playing under one of the most underrated coaches in the WNBA, Karl Smesko.

As the Dream look to make a push for the WNBA title with the help of Griner, they recently earned an upgraded position in the league standings.

After the most recent week in the WNBA community, the Dream jumped to the No. 2 spot in the league standings. They’re sitting at 22-12 on the season, ranked only behind the Minnesota Lynx (28-5).

The Dream jumped the New York Liberty (21-13) for the No. 2 spot in the standings. Atlanta has gone 8-2 in the team’s last 10 games, seemingly finding success after the return of Brittney Griner and Rhyne Howard, who were previously struggling with injuries.

Throughout her first season with the Atlanta Dream, Brittney Griner has posted 10.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.

Griner also leads the team in average blocks with 1.2 blocks on the season, seemingly viewed as the best rim protector in Atlanta.

Before playing for the Dream in the 2025 season, Griner helped lead the Phoenix Mercury to a WNBA title, playing for the team from 2013 to 2024.
