Michigan football fans knew it was coming while the college football world laughed at them. However, on Nov. 21, 2024, it was the maize and blue faithful who were having the last laugh.
Despite being a longtime LSU commit, No. 1 recruit in the nation, Bryce Underwood, flipped from the Tigers to the Wolverines, spurning a near 11-month commitment to play college ball in Baton Rouge. The LSU message boards made themselves feel better by making it entirely about the financials in terms of what Michigan offered via name, image and likeness. However, that’s not the case, Underwood told Rich Eisen on Wednesday’s Rich Eisen Show.
“That was really the last thing that was on the bucket list honestly,” Underwood said.
Underwood has answered why he chose to stay home before, but he further elaborated to Eisen that a big factor for him was that he grew up a fan of the maize and blue. To him, that had more of an impact than the big payday — considering he would have received that wherever he went.
“Honestly, both are great programs, have a lot of love for the both of them, honestly,” Underwood said. “So with me being a Michigan fan growing up, of course, that was one of the big factors, biggest things that dawned on me, of course, playing for the Motor City Wolverines and things like that.”
