INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women’s basketball team outscored St. Francis by 43 points over the two middle quarters as the Bulldogs prevailed 95-38 Sunday afternoon inside historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Marissa Shelton led St. Francis (2-10) with 11 points. This marks a new season high for the Indiana native.

The 10-3 Bulldogs outscored the Red Flash 26-12 in the second quarter, including an eight-point run to advance their lead from 17-13 to 25-13.

Butler earned a 32-5 edge in the third quarter.

Lily Carmody led Butler with 18 points. Lily Zeinstra added 17 points. Riley Makalusky and Kilyn McGuff each netted 16.

Butler caused 17 St. Francis turnovers and turned those into 27 points.

To wrap up scoring in the first quarter, St. Francis’ Harris Robinson made a layup with 45 seconds left to play. Inievi Plata drained a 3-pointer to open the second quarter and narrowed Butler’s lead to four.

Natalie Johnson and Robinson led the Red Flash with four rebounds apiece. Johnson, Plata and Robinson each recorded three assists on the day.

St. Francis will travel to Rhode Island Friday.
