Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever near top of WNBA Power Rankings ahead of third game

by

Two games are hard to paint a picture or tell a story about an entire season, but what Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever look like just two games into this WNBA season is a good opening chapter based on early-season showings.

With Caitlin Clark already breaking more WNBA records, the Fever also looks like a more well-rounded team than last year, with more veteran experience and depth across the board, who can alleviate some of the pressure from Caitlin Clark.

Heading into their third game of the year, the Fever are sitting near the top of CBS Sports’ WNBA Power Rankings based on how things look already.

Caitlin Clark recorded a triple-double, DeWanna Bonner moved into third place on the league’s all-time scoring list and the Fever cruised to a 35-point win over the Sky in front of a sold-out crowd at Gainsbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday. Bonner called it a “perfect” opening day, and it’s hard to argue with that assessment. The Fever’s major offseason moves look like they’re going to pay off. – Jack Maloney, CBS Sports

After falling just short to Atlanta by one point, the Fever carry a 1-1 record that simply feels different than last year. There is more chemistry and a sense of urgency with the team being revamped.

Next up for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever is a chance at redemption against Atlanta. They get them tonight, May 22, at 6:30 p.m. on Prime Video on the road at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
