Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are getting prepared for the upcoming 2026 WNBA season, marking Clark’s third year in the league. In 2025, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star was forced to miss most of the regular season and all of the playoffs due to numerous injuries. But she still managed an All-Star appearance after just playing in 13 games.
The 2026 season will also introduce two new expansion teams, the Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo, bringing the total number of teams to 15. On Friday, the league held its expansion draft. Each new team could select up to 12 players across two rounds. The rules limited them to a maximum of two players combined from any existing team. And unfortunately for Indiana, both the Fire and Tempo selected a player from its unprotected roster.

Chloe Bibby was signed by the Fever in late July of 2025 after Indiana had been dealing with numerous injuries across the roster. In nine games with the Fever, the forward averaged 4.8 points and 1.8 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per game, providing Stephanie White’s team with some much-needed depth. And with the No. 11 pick in the expansion draft, Portland selected Bibby, leaving her off the Fever roster for 2026 and beyond.
Kristy Wallace, on the other hand, joined the Fever in 2023 and has spent the last three seasons with them. For her career, the guard has averaged 6.1 points and 1.9 assists, including her rookie year with the Atlanta Dream. However, Wallace sat out the 2025 season due to personal reasons. On Friday, Wallace was selected by Toronto with the No. 10 pick, becoming the second player the Fever lost in the expansion draft

The Fever made two posts regarding Bibby and Wallace joining other teams, wishing them the best of luck. Clark also took notice of her teammates’ departures, sending a message to both in the comments section.
“My Aussie for life,” Clark wrote to Bibby.
“Kdub ily,” Clark said to Wallace.
Clark and the Fever will open the 2026 season on May 9, facing the Dallas Wings at 1:00 p.m. ET.
