Due to two separate injuries, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has missed seven games this season.

The first five absences resulted from a left quadriceps injury, while the most recent absences have stemmed from a groin injury. Unlike the first injury that saw her immediately declared out for at least a couple of weeks, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year told ESPN on Sunday that she is “day-to-day” with the groin injury.
However, fans around the WNBA have begun to put on their conspiracy theory hats after the Indiana Fever released a video of Clark speaking with WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert.
As shared to social media on Sunday, Engelbert called Fever coach Stephanie White to relay the news that Clark would be a WNBA All-Star captain, after receiving a league-high 1,293,526 fan votes.
In that same conversation, Engelbert also wished the Fever luck for their WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship game against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday.

A message that led Clark to express her confidence in the team’s chances.
“Yeah, we about to get that dub Cathy,” Clark said.
While Clark may have been doing it for laughs from her teammates, she also sparked speculation that she’d be returning to the court.
“We about to get that dub, Cathy. So she’ll be playing? I hope,” said one fan.
“All i heard was “we,” wrote another.
“So..she’s playing?? 😭,” questioned a third.
“She might be playing 👀,” commented another fan.
“All I heard is she’s playing. My goat 😭❤️😭❤️😭,” added another.

The Fever are likely hopeful she can return as they have gone 3-4 on the year without her. If she does return, she will likely be hoping to snap out of her rough patch from deep, as she is 1-of-23 from 3 in her last three appearances.

Whether she plays or not, the show must go on. Tuesday’s game will tip at 8:00 p.m. ET at the Target Center and will air on Prime Video.
