The Fever made easy work of the Sky at the United Center in Chicago, blowing out Angel Reese and company, 79-52. Kelsey Mitchell led the way for Indiana with 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting.
Indiana’s defense was on point in the contest, with no one from Chicago able to score in double digits. Rebecca Allen and Kamilla Cardoso had eight points a piece, while Reese herself was only able to score four points.

To make the win even better, the Fever were not only missing Clark, but they were also without head coach Stephanie White, who did not join the team on the trip to the Windy City due to personal reasons.

In White’s place, first assistant Austin Kelly took over as head coach for the game.
Naturally, the Fever were ecstatic for Kelly, who got his first-ever WNBA win as a head coach. The players were seen drenching Kelly with water and shouting in delight in the locker room.
Clark also joined in the celebration as the Fever players hyped up Kelly, and it didn’t stop in the locker room. For her very first post following Indiana’s victory, she shared the team’s video of their locker room moment.

It’s still unknown how long White will be out for the Fever and until when Kelly will remain as the acting head coach, but clearly, Indiana and its players have no problem with their top assistant filling in.

The Fever will play the Atlanta Dream next on Tuesday, so an update about White’s status should come in the next couple of days.
There’s also the possibility of Caitlin Clark returning from her quad injury, although the team is taking it day-to-day when it comes to her status.
